Chalait New location coming up in Hudson Square!

New location coming up in Hudson Square!

A new chapter is about to begin for Chalait this spring with the opening of the third cafe in Hudson Square! Chalait opened Manhattan’s first matcha-focused cafe in 2015 with a mission to honor tradition while making the tea more accessible. They do that by offering the premium tea found in Japanese tea ceremonies but serving it in a friendly, contemporary setting. While many cafes serving matcha source from importers, Chalait seeks to honor Japanese chado — or “Way of Tea” — by forging relationships directly with family owned Japanese farms. Chalait’s trained baristas then make the drink accessible to Western palates. The matcha tea menu draws inspiration from an espresso bar — matcha tea is served as a shot and then available in a variety of familiar drinks including a matcha latte, matcha Americano and matcha iced tea.

In addition to matcha, Chalait will be partnering up with Counter Culture Coffee to bring coffee enthusiasts some of the most exquisite and freshest coffee from around the world. The carefully curated coffee program will include espresso based beverages, single origin pour-over coffee, brewed coffee as well as some signature beverages.

At the Hudson Square cafe, Chalait will be serving an all-day food menu. A variety of freshly baked pastries, hand-crafted sandwiches and market salads will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything on the menu will be made daily using the best-quality ingredients available. The market salad menu will driven by seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms. The unique new pastry program will focus on fresh, seasonal produce to provide a sweetness reminiscent of the Japanese palette. Think house-made jams and bright citrus curds, the earthiness of matcha accenting bakery classics, presented with flair to satisfy chocoholics and vegans alike.

Can’t wait for Chalait’s Hudson cafe to open? Stop by for a delicious cup of matcha latte with the housemade almond-cashew milk at either the NoMad or Chelsea Market location!
